Background

Originally from Guildford, Jade spent her years studying Fine Art, Fashion Design and Photography. Having started learning photography through analog processes, using her mum’s Olympus OM-1, she instantly fell in love with capturing everything around her.

After nearly 18 years of living in Guildford, she moved down to Falmouth, Cornwall to study (BA) Fashion Photography at Falmouth University and after 3 years received a 1st Class Honours degree. Leaving her third year she moved to Paris for a 2 month photographic internship with one of the world’s largest modelling agencies, IMG Models. Since returning to the UK she landed the position of Senior Technician of Fashion Photography at Falmouth University to teach up and coming photographic students everything from 35mm and Darkroom printing to 3D computer image rendering in Point Cloud.

After a further 3 years living in the stunning coastal town she decided to move to Scotland to explore the incredible landscape and up and coming creative industry in Glasgow.

Experience

Whilst interning in Paris with IMG Models, towards the end of her third year at University, Jade had the opportunity to photograph and collaborate with a number of models including Yumi Lambert, Inka Williams and Barbara Di Creddo. Producing model packages for IMG Clients such as D&G, Calvin Klein and Versace. After the two month internship, Jade returned back to Falmouth where she secured a job as Senior Technician on Fashion Photography at Falmouth University, the top Arts University in the UK.

Her role was to provide technical instruction to students. To demonstrate anything from basic camera techniques to High End retouching. As well as digital, her skills were (and still are) in analog photographic and print processes. Teaching basic black & white printing as well as colour darkroom, Jade works with multiple formats such as 35mm, medium and large format. With three years of teaching in higher education under her belt, her knowledge ranges from software such as Capture One, Point Cloud and the Adobe Creative Suite. She is constantly learning, adapting to the advances in technology and photography in industry.

Alongside teaching, Jade also worked part time as a music photographer across the UK and over the years has photographed some of the biggest names in music as well as some of the largest festivals in the UK including Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters, 2000 Trees and Y Not Festival. Artists have included Snoop Dogg, Noel Gallagher, Twenty One Pilots, You Me At Six, The 1975 and more.

After leaving the University she landed a role as a Freelance Retoucher & Studio Assistant at Seasalt Cornwall, one of the largest fashion brands in the South West. Her role as a retoucher included E-Commerce and Mannequin, Location and Catalogue. As a studio assistant, Jade worked alongside the Senior Photographer as a Digi Tech on Capture One, but was also in charge of studio health and safety, and overseeing the wellbeing of the models and crew.

Since then Jade has continued her career as a Freelance Photographer & Retoucher.
